Broadbill Fred -

I concur on George. In fact, I first met a fisherman named Roop at one of George's classes two years ago. And like Roop after the clave, I was digging out my copy of the video this week.

At the risk of a hint of spam, George's website is He's got a new book coming out this year as well. Plain spoken casting advice. No gimmicks, and useful for every level of skill.

Driving away unwanted guests is a new application for the video. 'Til now, I'd only used it on my teenagers.

Pete, sounds like you've heard my wife after she turns on the radio in the car expecting music only to hear Lefty Kreh's audio tape on casting. H'mm, her new minivan has a CD player, maybe its time to record a cd of it.

Roop It is a great resource. Those of us in the Northeast are fortunate that we can even schedule a lesson with George. Definitely worth the money.

After my poor performance in the casting competition the other night, I started tryign to track down my copy. Would whoever I leant it to be kind enough to let me know you have it and return it?

FredA Great point Pete. Kinda like packing leftover bluefish sandwiches for your guests day at the beach.

...just watching it helps put things in order and when re-enforced with a lawn session it's great medicine...
Besides that...should a non-fly-fishing guest over stay their welcome, it will send them packing!

IMHO George Roberts Casting Video

I know most of the people from the NE area are familiar with this tape. In light of the casting clave attendance and the number of us who are relatively new to the subject, its a good time to mention.

I picked it up a couple of months ago knowing I needed to do something to correct some bad habits. I've viewed the tape several times and am amazed at how well it's put together. The title, "10 Steps to Power and Distance" had put me off previously - thought it was for the more advanced caster. Not the case. Strong presentation of the fundamentals in a very understandable, technically accessible way. A big thumbs up for the the beginner or the experienced caster who wants to get rid of that hitch in his cast.
