When is the best period to fish for bonefish?

|mt. waters||End of May is peak runoff=high and muddy most places. But!!! I know a nice little river in n.w. Montana that stays clear. It's kind of a secret so I'ld prefer a phone call if this is an option for you. Very reasonable lodging at montanariverlodge.com Hope you have a great anniversary. Ray 406-207-0673|

While it has been a few years, the out islands of the Bahamas come to mind. My wife and I have been to Eleuthera and it offers lots of white sand beaches as well as DIY opportunities for bonefish. You can also blind cast bait fish patterns on the ocean side beaches and catch grouper, etc. Certain beaches also have schools of bones with some being quite large. Local guides such as Paul Petty can take you out for a day of guided fishing that will get you to areas that are difficult to access on foot.
For your budget you could probably look at renting a house there for the week. I would recommend having a rental car on Eleuthera so you can explore. The area around Governors Harbour has a fair amount of places to each such as Tippy's, Mate & Jennies, etc.
As it is relatively easy for DIY, some of the more popular flats have bones that are well educated and will drive you nuts. With that said, an open mind and exploration and you can find some good fishing along with some of the most picturesque beaches in the world. Hope this helps.

Your sig says "MN" are you in Montana? If so, I can vouch for Oahu if you can find good lodging at $250. Kaneohe has amazing flats but few fish, I saw more on the residential south side near the naval base and the biggest, in fact unimaginably big bonefish on the southwest lagoons of Ko Olina but it is a patrolled no fishing zone. I did not investigate the flats around the Marine base at Kaneohe. I'm sure you can find places around Waikiki as well, and you can hire a local guide to show you the proven flats. Flights from the northwest are easy.
For us east-coasters the Bahamas have a lot to offer - I liked Harbor Island as a his/hers destination but there are many options depending on how picky your lady is The beaches are beautiful beyond description in these archipelagos and there are bones lurking pretty much all over. Turks and Caicos now you're talking... but again more of an east coast destination.

Oahu, Hawaii. Bonefish, there are some DIY self flats as well as flats that you will need a guide with a boat. e-mail me email@example.com if you got questions about Oahu.

Looking for trip advice
30 yr wedding anniversary coming up May 24th. Looking for an area with some Nice white beach and clear water for the Mrs and some DIY and a day or so of guided trips. For bonefish ect. Does not need to be a high tone place. $250.00 a day is about max for lodging. Cannot set on a beach for a week with nothing to do and can't turn the trip into a guy type fishing trip either.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
