Jamey McLeod I have the 550 floater right now, feels like it would take alot more grainage. I was just going to use a head because it what Rio offers in the heavy weights.

I was thinking a very tight, all underhand stroke; roll it up, anchor next to the boat and fire, single spey style.

Considering what it is, its a very sweet casting rod, even with the floater on it. Would like to try the lighter weight models.

Smcdermott I use the 600gr leviathan on that rod. Its pretty loaded up at that level. We need to cast 80-100ft up here when targeting bluefin and the rod does a nice job at that with that line configuration. For us one handed guys a single back cast and haul and let her rip. They have so many nice integrated lines these days I don't see the need to use a head and running line. If you are going for sails or marlin where you will be bait and switching short off the transom you can just cut the running line back on the integrated lines as well.

When using a shooting head offshore what running line are you guys using? I was considering threading the 80lb Power Pro I use for backing up through 100ft or so of 50lb braided mono, nail knoting the Power Pro to the head, pulling the braid over it and coating the joint in Aquaseal. Or just making a loop with the Power Pro and the braided mono.

Looking at the 750 Leviathan for the TFO 14-17wt. Also considered the 1000 grain model. I would like to get it really loaded up, if its possible on that rod, and cast it 2 handed.

Any positive input would help.
