Venture Hey "Bish",

Great hearing from your region. Keep up the good word. Perhaps bring your camera with you on the 1st and post some pics of the beats. Nothing like a picture to excite all who are going up and fishing with you this year. My wife and I are very excited about visiting your "temple" this season.....and fishing with the master....

Gaspe Salmon
Cascapedia River report...

Greetings fellow salmon freaks!

The swallows have invaded my barn and that can mean only one thing... the salmon are not far behind, if not already here!

The river is in great shape. Just a bit on the high side of things, which is a good thing for this time of the year. The water is a bit colored but not chocolate brown as it can be early in the season.

Unfortunately, I have been too busy to check out the water temps but I imagine they are in the mid 40's which is normal for this time of the year. I will be heading out to do a bit of exploring on the 1st and am hoping for the first pull of the year.

I have not had many reports from Gaspe and their early season but have heard rumours of a few fish being hooked and released on the York and St-Jean. I am not sure if they were skinny fish or if they are fat-cat-cool-bright fish. I am hoping for the latter!

I am sure that things will get going soon on most of our rivers and encourage all of you that can make it to this area to come and check out our magnificent rivers.

Frowning rods and screaming reels to you all!

David "Bish" Bishop
