2 minute pike fly

Well, this one took me about 12 minutes because I had to dig out the materials and I spent a few minutes trying to find my copper krystal flash, which I never did find . I had 15 minutes before I had to leave the house for the night and I wanted to tie a pike fly to use the next day. This is what I came up with using the classic Daredevle colors except that I used silver flash instead of copper.

Hook: 3/0 bass bug hook
Thread: 3/0 white
Tail/body/wing: red and white fishair and silver krystal flash

I didn't tie the "wing" down but pulled the material back on the top and sides, wrapped thread in front of it, tied off, clamped the hair with a clothespin and doused the thread and folded hair with head cement. The cement held up ok until I hooked a fish and then the hair didn't stay swept back when out of the water but still worked fine in the water. Next time I'll use something a little more durable than head cement.
