G.H. Howells bamboo fly rod Fly Fisherman Magazine

For those interested in owning this classic magazine there is one for sale on E Bay now.

E Bay item # 7128392335

Gary H. Howell was one of the rod builders featured in this issue of Fly Fisherman Magazine in 1974.

The article is titled "The Bamboo Renaissance", and also features a handful of other bamboo rod makers of the time such as Tom Maxwell and Tom Dorsey, Everett Garrison, Leonard, Payne, Walton Powell, Ed Sisty, Doug Merrick, Paul Young, Bill Phillipson and others.

This hard to find magazine is the Spring Special issue 1974 (Volume5 #3) and came out just a few short years after Howells left Winston to build rods in his own shop under his own name.
