sayow Nice hen! Not a bad stogie either. Good to hear you saw good fishing on the Flowers. It's been a brutal year here on the Humber and Main Rivers. One week, the third week of June was good fishing. The rest of the year has been a real let down. Very low water conditions, and what water was left was extremely warm. We spent 5 days on Adies Stream (a tributary of the Humber) and only fished the first 3 days. We checked the water temp at Mercer's Pool on our third night and it was 78 degrees. Not good. We packed up our fishing gear and just spent the next two days tying low water flies and playing horse shoes. At this point with little to no rain since, most of the rivers have closed (besides the main body of the Humber) because of the ambient conditions. Hopefully we'll get some good rains before the season closes, or it's a write off.

Labrador report

Fished Flowers river last week of July, water was high and the stretch of water fished was seeing the fish go right through. We had to shoot a bear that tried to break in to the cabin one night, adding to the overall outback experience. all in all most people were into fish each day, and the river was quite beautiful. Labrador seems to be having an above average year.

Next trip for me is the Miramichi in the Fall ( always a treat)

txraddoc Flowers river web site says high water as of July 19th, hopefully I will have good water. I will post a report when I get back ( will fish July 25 to Aug 1st, then in Maine for a week).

chare The Pinware was just a shadow of its former self this year. We spent two weeks there...from July 5th to July 18th...and the weather was hot (except for one day which was overcast with a few showers), the water levels were low to begin with and continued to get lower, and the water temperature was in the 68F to 70F range most days. At the end, you could wade across with need to take a boat or wait for the tide to go out and cross at a gravel bar at the lower pools. (This is at the tidal pools, lower section of the river). I've been going there for twenty years and have never seen it so angler on one side hooked my fly while I was fishing from the other side...that just doesn't happen on the Pinware!
Farther north...Mary's Harbor River, St. Charles River, and Gilbert's River suffered the same fate. Those farther north...the Hawke, the Big, the Flowers, etc. may have escaped those conditions...I don't know.

juro You might contact our sponsor Andrew at Tight Lines (see banner ad), I think he is headed up there next month and is pretty well dialed in. He just got back from Newfoundland and they all did very well with fish up to 25#.

I'm off to Labrador for a week on the Flowers River, any reports of how the Salmon fishing has been so far in Labrador. I heard there were some fish being taken on the Pinware, but this is pretty far south. Any news wouyld be welcome, I'm off on the 25th of July.

Tight Lines,
