FishHawk It's all about sea temp. Checked out the sea temps. New London Ct was 41.5 Buzzard's Bay is only 38 . The early season magic number is 40. So if my theory is correct , up here in Ma we are about three degrees cool and a couple of weeks off Ct. FishHawk

FishHawk Good news on the Ct migrants. No surprises on the barrier fish. Could be an early season . Let's hope so.

Birthday Stripers

Slinger, when I saw you post last night I said "Darn it - I knew I shoulda called Slinger"

Anyway, I did have a couple of 'firsts' myself today:

First ever March Stripahs - gotta love that lower CT river

First time I ever fished on my Birthday too - can't imagine why I had to wait 'till 50. I'm thinking this will be an annual event from here on.

Launched the Yak into a pretty stiff NE wind but the fleece and drysuit kept me toasty warm.

Used a drift-sock to locate the schools with a fast sink line on a controled drift and then dropped the hook for a couple of hours of solid hookups.

No keepahs but a couple pushing 20" - holdovers but fit and feisty.

Water temps were 49F in the cove.

Dble Haul It's official on the CT coast also....schoolies from lower coves of the CT River on Saturday.

And so it begins!

Game On !!!

It`s time! got the first of the year today and guess what ? It was a legal fish, a full 28", dropped another. Not a bad way to start. Nice to get out and play with the new stuff !
