Fred, I agree with Juro, the saltwater traveller is probably the way to go if you're not going to be tying any small(trout) flies. If you do go with the standard jaws though they just came out with a cam version of the regular traveller that looks really nice.

True rotary is the way to go, I didn't think i'd use it all that much when i got it, but i really do use it all the time.

One vote 'fer the Traveller here! But if you plan to tie striper flies mostly, get the Saltwater Traveller instead of the regular one. I gotta have true rotary.

What Do You Want For Xmas Dad?

My daughter posed the question a few days ago. I responded with my typical retort to this question - socks. Being fresh out of school and making the big bucks, this didn't amuse her, she wants to play Santa Claus. So I told her to get me a gift certificate to the Bears Den (the local flyshop). But don't you want something under the tree, she asked. I thought to myself, I'd prefer to see you pay down those school loans. Over the next few days I found myself blurting out "Pungo" or "10 weight DFR" when she was within earshot (not really). Anyhow, the reality is, if I don't provide direction I'm going to end up with a project like a couple of pallets of pavers to expand the patio or something. So I think I'll direct her to a flytying vise. I'm thinking the Renzetti Traveler. I know this topic has been beaten to death but are there any other suggestions or recommendations out there?

Regards,
Fred A.
