Dan's GL Bunny Spey

These Bunny speys can be tied in a variety of colors and are great for fishing for fresh or staging fish. Usually they can bring aggressive strikes when nothing else seems to work. I always have a few of these in my box at all times.

Anyone fish these besides me?

ST69 tied some up for me as a double hook/art. leach. The black one (and that's this mornings outing) hooked two ..... and is now sitting in the jaw of #3. Bugger took me down a shoot into fast water where I ran out of beach before he ran out of river. Popped 12# Max. main line tippet.

They are killer, I'll tell you that much. Glad to hear I am not the only one that fishes them.

I used to tie about 150 dozen of this type fly each winter for one shop alone when I was tying commercially. The only thing different was I use marabou instead of schlappen because it moves better in the water and then I added a collar of duck mallard flank to help the marabou move more enticingly. Tied them on 2/0, 1/0, and 2's. Never fished them though because I prefer to fish traditional Glasso speys, G.P.'s, Ally's Shrimp, or even full dressed feather wings in the winter.

Interesting? I might have to try that out. I altered one that I have seen, although there are several variations.
