Sean, Juro or anyone else who is more knowledgeable about these things than I am:

How do linked photos affect bandwidth? I'm referring to photos that are posted elsewhere on the web but appear within a message when people view the message. I realize that the photo data is not stored on the Forum server, but does the photo data go through the Forum server and add to the bandwidth usage?

Q -

Good question.

There are attached images, which are the ones that have become links recently, and there are those hosted on another site that hosts images.

The images hosted on other sites do not become links, and can be seen when a thread is read. They do not affect the bandwidth consumption of this site. These links do tend to expire so although they may appear now they may become empty links later when the pic server decides to change their storage arrangements.

Short answer - if you can find an image host you can use the \[IMG] tag to post them without bandwidth consumption on the forum.
