We are going to be appointing new moderators for 2003 and I thought it would be good to collect ideas from members as to what constitutes a good moderator: what roles we could reasonably ask of him/her, what rewards we can allocate for their services, etc. No guarantees but it would be interesting to hear your opinions.
Thanks in advance!

I think that the best thing that a moderator can do is to try and start discussions and promote traffic on their page.
If a question is asked, try and answer it, or encourage members that know the answer to help.
The moderator should watch the tone of the threads, and help to keep things civil.Fortunately, this has not been so much of an issue here.

I agree with what Eddie has said. Couldn't have said it better myself.

The Presiding Officer, Arbitrator, Mediator. A "Shock Absorber" who can strike a ballance. One who knows when to " Take the sail in" and then let it "Out" again. A sober thinker. One who can gather and distribute information needed.
