These tough, light and proven large arbor reels need little introduction. We have two reels with spare spools on the auction block for round #2.

Each bid will be for a reel and spare spool set, retail value approx $350.00 per set

Simply reply here to bid!

BTW - due to the holiday season, we would not need payment of the auction item until mid-January. On the other hand, it would make a great Xmas gift! We must the reserve amount to continue with this auction.

Not bidding, just thowing in my 2 cents. I've got the litespeed, which has the same drag as the velocity. Let me tell you it's silky smooth, no jerky start up here, and it can stop a truck. Who ever can get their hands on these will be ready for anything short of blue water species.

Malcolm, I will personally deliver it by hand if you bid past the reserve. When is the best time for "delivery" (fishing)? :D

UPDATE:

Reserve not met (due to our own costs for these brand new items).

Note: Although all offers are deeply appreciated, if we can't get somewhere into the ballpark of retail value it won't be worth our purchasing these items for auction. If any member has been meaning to buy one of these reels, here's a chance to get it at a reasonable discount while helping the cause. Otherwise we will have to cancel this auction.

Retail value for the set is $350... do we hear $250 for this new reel and spare spool set?

Lifetime warranty applies of course. Maintenance free drag system is second to none in any price range for smoothness and lack of start-up intertia. Spool change is the easiest on the market. Takes over 200 yards of good ol' fashioned 30# dacron backing under your weight forward line.

Well, I'm going to need a nice reel for the 10wt that I haven't bought yet so that I have a reasonably good chance of landing those albies that I haven't hooked up with yet :hehe:

$250

edit: Auctioneer -- when does this auction end?

The question will it hold a Rio Grand Spey 9/10 and 150yds of 30# standard backing. I find very few reels will list capacity with other than WF I fish DT's

juro

No, I don't believe it will. It holds well over 200 yards of std 30# dacron and a 9wt WF line, that I know. The difference between a normal WF 9wt line and the G/S 9/10 is more than 50 yards of backing therefore I would have to guess no.

It would make a killer reel for a midspey to put on a summer rod though!

I like the lite speed model myself, for it can be used as an opener in a pinch

Required email sent to Jim Koch at Sam Adams:hehe:

This could not go without a reply from me.

I know Jim Koch, and, I will make sure that he sees this picture. As far as I can tell, Jim does not fly fish. His VP of Sales at Boston Beer does spin fish and I've already put a bug in his ear about the Forum at a recent business dinner.

I explained the virtues of the "Chuck&Duck" clan and promised him we'd get out this season to meet some of you for a fly fishing intervention of sorts(are there twelve steps to a text book fly casting motion?).

During our conversation about fishing he tells me that he just purchased a home in Chatham!!! Are you kidding!?!? It's only a matter of time until Striblue and Pete get his address and storm the place in waders, whisking him away to Area 61 or CAC for debriefing and reprogramming. The guy will have a Renzetti Master vice and a Charlton/Abel reel collection by the Fourth of July.......
