: Puglisi eye mounting question

I recently bought some Puglisi eyes.
I have noticed that a store bought Puglisi fly has far more secure eyes than what I am tying up.
Any ideas would be helpful.
Are any of you using them?
Are you clipping the "stubs" completely off of eye and just glueing with Goop or??
Leaving some of stub??

I cut about half the stub off or on a thin profile I cut the whole stub off, but that still leaves a little if you use scissors. I will usually burn a little hole..drop a little epoxy in the hole to the shank. let the eye set in the epoxy AGAINST the shank...very secure and does not creep around the eye. If I don't burn the hole with a surgical hot point I would just make sure the epoxy and eye are secure to the shank. I also think they are perfect for spun deer hair heads where in some situations ,if the head is big enough ,you don't have to cut much of the stub off..it depends on the size of the head.
