Stoped by the light house and took a cew pictures... This looked like about middle outgoing tide... Not a lot of changes..but the big sand bar in the middle appears to be getting closer to the main beach... looked like you might be able to walk across to the bar, even at that stage of the tide...if it happens it will open a spectacular beach fishing access , especially with the access to the deeper waters of the cut between the bar and North beach. The first view is north beach:

View of the point at South Beach and the people give you scale as to the expansion of the main beach.
Interesting! That should make for one of the biggest bowls on the coast if the beach creeps over! Pleasant Bay will probably have no influence on it's current flow if it does, only tidal from the SE. Mother nature is always keeping things interesting for us!

The only constant is CHANGE...
If the corner keeps creeping, the olde channel will be back where it was (sorta') before the great cut...
Quite the outside shoal!

Wow, that pic really shows how extreme the cutting action has been this season - as you say Pete - it looks like just a matter of time before access to South Beach is a Kayak ride :D

Does anyone care to make a guess? For the last few years I`ve been saying that it looks like the cut is closing up. The big loob at the end of north beach keeps moving steadily towards the rock wall. The channel has shifted all the way to the north. Could the the bowl in front of the light turn into the worlds biggest sand box? Or could we one day see the old inlet as it used to be? The berm between the bowl and the bathtub seems thinner to.

The Pleasant Bay channel dredge barges were dumping their sandy handiwork right in from the that wall and made short order of the channel that was there before the bargee intervened...
One thing for sure...IT'S CHANGIN"! (AsTheWorldTurns)

That channel was my honey hole for years when I was fishing for money. Since the illegal dumping by the dredge( at the request of a very exorbitant Inn) the fishing has never been the same, Maybe the current can undo the Corps handiwork!

that water in front of the bar is pretty deep. do you think it could actually close in? that would be great for fishing. i normally only fish there at night during summer because of the crowds and parking time limit. but being able to walk across would really create some opportunity.
