: The Reclusive Bill McMillan

McMillan is perhaps the most learned and innovative steelhead fly fisherman of our times and I was fortunate enough to converse with him a time or two and exchanged correspondance with him in the 70's. He has left the Washougal River area and I was wondering if he ever come to the Portland area for speaking appearances. Does anyone know?
Thanks :D

Rumor has it Bill will be speaking at an upcoming WSC meeting in the Seattle area. I'm sure Rich will post it once the date gets finalized.

Last I heard Bill was living in the Duval, WA area and doing work for WA Trout. (WA Trout director Kurt Beardslee and wife Candace live in Duval.)

Kerry is right. Bill lives on the Skagit river near Concrete. He bought the place about 4 years ago. In fact, his paper on wild vs hatchery steelhead published by WA Trout last year has 2 photos of Bill holding winter fish that were taken in the run in front of his place on the Skagit.
