Art, JimW, etc -
How does the dinner plan work for Saturday? I can bring some stuff.
Are we grilling? Should we pool a few bucks and have a coordinated burger fest or something?
Just curious, started to get psyched up.

I don't know what the group would like for dinner but last year at the Beaverkill outing we had Beef tenderloin; filet mignon. I was able to purchase it at Sam's and it was of top quality. The cost was about $5 per filet. If the group would like this I would bring the filets. All I would need to know is how mnany would
be attending. Now for the side dishes, that would be someone else's responsibility. How does that sound?
:o I haven't been able yet to figure what's happening, hope to see a questionare about eating. I know most would rather fish than eat. I hope to do more next week, I sent JimW some info, but he doesn't seem to be recieving it. :( Tomorrow is a busy day for me about to take my first offshore trip in the morning, going out about 50 miles to try for sharks, mahi mahi, and tuna.:D Hope to report on that tomorrow night or Wednesday. Depends how tired I get.:smokin:
Juro, I dunno. Sure am getting psyched though.
Papa-G, That's a plan. Let's hear from the group but count me in.
Now we know where Gregg gets it from:hehe:
Sniff.....Sniff.Sniff.Sniff........I smell Cobbler.
Slinger's, venison chilli sounds awesome too.
Art, too bad about the communication problems, keep at it. I'm getting email from all over and my PM's are cleaned out so you should be able to send it there too. Best of luck tomorrow with the big stuff.
Everyone should feel free to jump in with whatever ideas you have for fishing, the group meal/gathering and accomodations. These events tend to take shape towards the end and while Art is the official Meister he can't do it alone. He'll have his hands full putting us in the general location and providing local up to the minute fishy info:D
I make no claim as an organizer on this one, figured I could help out by writting the signup sheet and providing a few links to fuel the fire. I'll get more involved as time permits.
How about Volunteers for:
Camp meister/s - start a list of all the things we need and let the group add to it. Wood, water, grills, any community items, etc....
Food meister/s - Same deal on the foodstuff, help organize the meal and make sure we've got what's needed to prepare it. If it's steaks we need grills, if it's stew we need pots.

Cobbler and Garlic mashed potatoes from the Estey Bros. I'll also bring some of the smoked bluefish I am making tonight assuming it turns out ok.
If it isn't done by someone else before this evening I will dig up an items needed list from previous claves and post it and keep track of who signs up for what.

and the food unattended for just a minute and...
Too close to home! I recently bought a pricey fisherman's platter and decided to eat outside. Forgot the ketchup, when came back out the gulls left me nothing but one shrimp and the most shrivelly clam - oh and they left every damn french fry!
:) I posted here to kind of keep it secret. One fishing area for the clave that is protected, and a good place for small boats and kayaks is around Sand Point in Little Narragansett Bay. Coming back from offshore saw numerous schools of breaking fish. This is about all shallow water flat fishing, but the need for a small boat to get there. I think most meals should be kiss, fishing is the name of the game. A good meal for Saturday night with a get together might be the way to go. Steak dinner over a good campfire might be in order, but someone needs to take the ball and run on this. Having trouble posting and e-mailing lately, got to go to the Doc's shortly more tonight.
Not related, this was at Block Island yesterday.:D
Also, coming back from offshore couldn't help noticing all the boats at Watch Hill Reef.:hehe: Wonder what they were doing? Came through Sugar Reef Passage so could only see them from a distance.

Well it looks as if it is a go for the filet mignon steak for dinner on Saturday. :p
I will place an order for the number of persons who indicated "YES" for Saturday dinner in the sign-up sheet. At this time that number is 20. I will need a cut-off date of 9/25 so anyone signing up for dinner after that will need to make their own arrangements for steak. :(
My appitite is already working overtime.

Thanks. Most of the other dishes are donated with pleasure. But we will be sure to pass the hat to recoup the cost of the filets. Thanks again.
