If I am not mistaken, the 3N is rated for 7-12 lines with backing suitable for bones thru baby tarpon whereas the 4N is rated to cover 9-12 with backing suitable for tarpon.
The 3N and the Super 8 are good choices. I love the way the 3N looks, but the Super 8 is a better reel over all(I think it is the best reel for a 8/9 wt. made). It is lighter, and maintains a much larger diameter with the line out.
I have a Silver("Platinum") 3N with a closed back and if a reel could be called "sexy", this one is X-Rated. It is still one of the best flats reels made. A 9wt. line will leave a very small arbor though.
The #2 is miniature by todays standards.
You like Tibors? They suck! Just kidding, but the two reels DC mentioned are being discounted, and I suspect that that is why they where the only two in question.
You got it! I got turned onto the Abels in my search for a bargain. Alot for a reel in any event, but the bargain helps me justify it. Thanks to all for your tips.
Steve
