Any of you guys know of a medium gray nylon thread (6/0, 3/0, 210, whatever) with black specks in it?

Maybe DMC Embroidery Thread would work?

I have some DMC Embroidery Thread that is black with gold wire twisted through it so it looks like black and gold speckled thread. It's a double strand thread that can easily be separated into single strands that are still black & gold. The single strand may be too heavy for tying small flies but would work for larger flies, perhaps #12 hook or larger. Maybe they have a color similar to what you are looking for?

I do believe it's rod thread

I'll agree on this one. I used to tie up alot of rods when I was younger. Sounds like some of the newer guidebrod and some older brands (can't remember the name).

Makes an interesting head. But hard to find in small thread size.

This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
