I'm looking for a place to launch/fish in southern Mass(not over the bridges) such as the New Bedford, Westport area and R.I. I had promised my wife I'd look for places to launch that we didn't deal with Cape traffic and have broken the promise... and need to fix that. please help... thanks, Tom d

Hey Tom d,

I just got back from a trip down in S. Mass. We launched in the Westport River public boat launch on Rt. 88 in Westport. We picked up quite a few blues inside the river on the flats, and outside also. (nice fight on the fly rods too!)

You can get to Cuttyhunk in about 35 minutes or so (depending on what size boat you have). Hope this helps.

I have a 20ft cc with a 150 yammy on back cruises at about 27 mph, tops out at about 41 mph. Tom D

Your boat will do just fine there. We fished from a 20ft Mako with a 115hp. If the weather is good you can see Cuttyhunk from the river mouth, and like I said it's about a 35 min boat ride if you decide to go. It's a nice trip.
