I could not make it to the "Promissed Land" this weekend but took the opportunity to fish an area I have scoped out a few times but never wet a line: Ocean Beach in New London, CT. The beach area was so crowded including the Jetty and so called non-swimming areas that it made me want to pack up and leave. Instead, I headed back up into the estuary and found our finning friends well up inside the tidal creek. I managed to get 4 fish to 27" but had many a nice refusal from the larger members of the clan. I was using a very small olive/white clouser that mimicked the junvenile baitfish I saw all around. The larger bass appeared to be uninterested at times and were nose down in the bottom digging for crabs???? Anyone have any idea of a good pattern for this situation?
