I too wanted to study some images and found MIT's image server down a few weeks ago, perhaps a serious hardware failure. I haven't had time to try the terraserver yet that Digital built for Microsoft using french Satellite data. I wouldn't try anything finer than 4 meter resolution either as the majority of data is not is not likely to be at 1 or 2 meters resolution. If someone get a chance to try it out let us know how your fishing spots look. ;)

Mapquest has pretty good aerial photos of some areas. Coverage is spotty, particularly at higher zoom levels. One thing I like is that you can flip between the aerial photo and the map so you can tell what you're looking at.
