It's been a long time for me to have a chance to be on the cape for some Cape Cod Fishin wanting to know if there is anyplace now a days to park without permits that one would be able to walk some beach or flats? I have a feeling things have changed a lot out there from the late 60's early 70's. Just some ideas would help.
Also will be in Weymouth on the 11th, 12th and 16th if anyone would like to do some weekday fishing before or after work out at the old Nike Base or around Hingham/ Quincy Bay area let me know. I'm a first light and evening stripar fly flinger. Would be great to meet and fish with some of the local color from the stripa board.

Basically, you can park in any lot if your fishing at dawn or dusk. For example, in Dennis between 4:00pm and 9:00am parking's free. If the fishing is good and your vehicle is in the lot at 9:00am they will leave a ticket on your windshield for you to pay by mail or pay to the attendant ($10 a day) on the way out. At Chatham light you risk a $25 ticket between 9:30am and, I think, 4:30pm.
Of course, there's other access options like the causeway in Chatham.

Don't know if this is too late, but I've found most of the south shore lots to be fairly accomodating if you're in there at the crack-o-dark times and out by their openings (9 am). Save for Chatham, I'd echo Fred's comments as I've never had a problem w/ lots when I'm arriving at 3-4 am and out of there by 9.
Best of luck.
When are you on Cape? Let's hookup!
Parking like the spots Tod mentioned are limited during time slots during the day, with a few exceptions where they have a locked gate.
In other words, many are no parking from 9am to 5pm but you can get in if you ask at 4pm, dark is not until almost 9pm and dawn is 5am-ish, therefore you get some primo time to fish just about anywhere.
For daytime access, let me know when and what area of the cape and I will PM you.
Thankyou all for the info on parking. That is real reasonable about the parking at least there is some time for out of towners to fish. Though I'll be out to visit family I intend to get some good fishing time in too. Two days will be on the Vineyard visiting my son and fishing with him and one on the beach in Pocassett. Don't know how fishing is in Pocassett in the middle of July but I guess I'll find out, Blues I bet.
Juro I'll get in touch with you as July shows up. It would be a pleasure to go fishing with you if we get the opportunity. Tyler will be out before me so don't let him catch all of the big fish.
