I fished the Merrimack in beautiful downtown Lawrence Sunday morning (ah the ambiance). I took my Spey to practice for the Skeena this fall. I was fishing for American Shad, when low and behold a pull, a jump, followed by a bunch more, one Atlantic Salmon brought to hand, and released. I can't think of a better way to christen a fly rod.I like this spey thing.
I did have two shad on, but they pulled off. There were a bunch of boats below the island striper fishing with live alewife.
WOW - was it a searun AS?

Congratulations Domenic,
Catching a sea run Atlantic in Mass is a major coup. How heavy would you estimate it to be and what weight is the rod you used?

What Mass. Atlantic Salmon !!!
Juro have you been holding this information back from us?
I would be over there in a second if I was close enough for a shot at some of those.

Hi All,
Any further updates on fishing the Merrimack upper river this Spring ? The cool Spring and relatively strong rainfall prompts me to ask if anyone was able to fish the river above Lawrence in late May or this past weekend.
