Had a great day playing with pike on a nearby Lake. Most fish were small with several of them about 30 inches. No luck with the BIGGUNS as yet, may be next week end. 2 Caught with swap fly. The one with a white rabbit strip, flash tinsel body and clouser style red eyes. Did not try the other patterns, they seemed to like red & white and the Yakka-Pikka best.
Pete- That's my pike fly that worked for you. Glad to hear that the fishing is picking up for you......I've seen too many pictures of snow in your area recently.
I should have my digital camera purchased next week, and then I'll be able to start putting some of my swap patterns and a few others into the archives. I should already have the camera, but that money turned into jon boat money, etc.........
I'm not surprised that the pike seem to like your two old reliable patterns. They've got some great action in the water.
Hey Guys,
Red/white combos have always worked the best for me for pike and pickerel. I really can't think of any other color combination that produces for those fish nearly as well, except perhaps some sort of yellow perch pattern (where applicable). There's nothing like the sub-surface charge of a pike family member! The pikes are my all-time favorite gamefish, hands down.
Chris
