: Inflatable Boat Club

I thought I'd throw this out to the masses here. Seems like when I do this on a conventional site, you get too many who pan the idea.

To start out, I used to belong to a small whitewater club (have been tempted to join NWRA, but mostly oregonions). We disbanded quite a few years ago. But we were strictly whitewatering, with the occasional fishing thrown in if we floated a river that held good runs. What I'm suggesting is an inflatables fishing club. Originally it was going to be a "cataraft" club, since most whitewater clubs focus more on kayaks and rafts. But there's such a wide diversion between pontoon boats, catarafts, watermasters, inflatable kayaks, and rafts that could draw more of a crowd opening it up to all who have inflatables. As of right now, this is strictly a "FREE" club. No dues to sign up. What is would consist of is a sign up sheet that basically would have name/address, personal info, rivers you float. I'd set up a newsletter type format, then set up my own database here. We could set up group floats, trade a trips, open seats, etc. Thought it would be a fun thing to do, and most inflatables can float summer flow rivers while the DB's are stuck in the driveways.

What do you all think? I've bounced this around a few times, only a couple guys interested. As I said, no fees, I'd store all info on my harddrive. So, if anyone is interested, shoot me any ideas you may have that you'd like in a club. I figured, that if I had enough interest, we could even start up a list of who would even want like a club jacket (I have a few embroiderists on my routes that will do them fairly inexpensively). Won't be monthly meetings and such. Will plan group floats, trade a trips, etc.

So, who's game????

I think it has a lot of potential, in fact another nice part of it would be to let each other try the models other people have! I always wanted to check out the various ones before I bought the buck's bag bronco. I am happy with my choice but since moving to the east it's looking for a good home.

Also, there are certain aspects about inflatables on the east coast saltwater scene that are unique as well, that would be another group though (verses whitewater).

Like most common interest groups it needs someone to keep it inspired - if you want the role I'll do everything I can to support it with databases and web resources.

One caveat - until we get a larger workforce behind such projects I can't make too many promises about investment of time, etc. I have historically bitten off way more than I can chew and need to be more realistic about commitments - particulary for the next several months! I start my shore guiding season later on this month and my dot-com dayjob isn't getting any lighter of a load.

Good idea though, we just need to figure out a way to run it.

Hey, thanks for the offer. But this wasn't intended at all to put a burden on you at all. This is a baby I've been messing with for a couple years now. Wouldn't need any bandwith or your attention except any input you wish to add to any posts that may be put on here. I'm planning on building my own site eventually, mostly after my business is up and running. A custom lure site (I build alot of spinners, jigs, and driftlures besides the flies I tie). Been doing pretty good selling them on the side. Figured I'd get the writeoff, especially when I get my new house with my OWN DEN!!!! :D

But no, you don't have to worry about it. It'll be more of a slight use maybe in the inflatables section. But I'll do all the dirty work on my email account (which, I do have an email account set up a good two years ago already. It's ) I know what it's like to have too many responsibilities, don't want you to be spread any thinner then you already are. Yeah, this is more of a "west coast" thing, but I guess eventually if we get enough interest on both ends of the country, may be able to merge into one big organization, then a subdivision depending on territories.
