: May Backside Beach Clinic - May 11

04-23-2002, 10:20 PM
Don't forget that Capt. Todd Murphy has offered to take us out on the big beaches to practice the art of floating line flyfishing in the ocean surf. Depending on the number of people, I may have to volunteer my truck as an oversand transport as well. The date is May 11, Cape backside beaches.

Space is limited so respond early. More details to follow.

Juro...... How is this for an early reply...please count me in... I just will have to find a floating line. Jimmy just e-mailed me the other day about this. Don't forget to ask Todd about fishing the from the beach "all-nighter" later in the season.

04-23-2002, 10:38 PM
I'll be there. :D :D

04-24-2002, 04:51 AM
Count me in. If I can't get a floating line by then I have a intermidate that should work.

04-24-2002, 05:49 AM
The rules are floating line for this one according to the Capt. I have a spare 8wt on a Lamson LP4 if anyone needs it for the day.

04-24-2002, 06:53 AM
I'm in. I can't wait!

04-24-2002, 07:44 AM
I will definitely be there for this one - please dd my name to the list.

04-24-2002, 08:42 AM
Juro, If there is room I would love to go. Count me in.

04-24-2002, 09:00 AM
I can lend someone a floating line if need be. Have no idea if I can attend, though.

Backside beaches and floating lines. The more I think about this, the crazier it sounds. Seems to be against everything I have learned about big surf fishing. I am really intrigued by this. I hope my 8wt has enough punch to get the job done out there. Otherwise I may need to get a 9 wt floater.

04-24-2002, 09:13 AM
me too!, me too!

Like I just said, you can borrow one if you need to.

I really regret that I can't attend. I'll be visiting my family in Maine that weekend for Mother's Day, but rest assured that I'll be chasing schoolies in the rivers with my precious free time.

I'm very intrigued by this fishing that Todd has proposed....please let those of us who can't make it know how you did, with pictures if possible. Best of luck to you all!

I'm in if theres room.

04-24-2002, 11:47 AM
I will bring a spare 9wt reel and floating line if anyone's stuck. I may also bring my 13ft Spey rod

Is anyone interested in a mini Yak attack on Sunday 12th? Seems a shame to come all that way and not make week-end out of it ;)

04-24-2002, 12:26 PM
I'm definitely in even if I have to walk to the group!

04-24-2002, 04:02 PM
Put me down. How much to get the permitt, if it is not out of this world I got a 4x4 truck.

If there's room, I would like to come too. Eddie.
I could probably bring extra tackle as well. Eddie

04-24-2002, 07:41 PM
I'm in.

Should have permit by then as well.

04-25-2002, 05:26 AM

...For what it's worth...
If anyone wants to do some paddling on the 12th...There is some interesting structure on the inside of Lewis Bay near Area 61...
Easy launch and sheltered water (sorta)...
If anyone cares to join me...just say the word and we can round out the weekend with some YakTherapy... :D

04-25-2002, 10:29 PM

Any other day but the 12th.:( That's Mothers Day. If I'm not home for that, my wife will.....Well, you get the idea.

04-28-2002, 12:55 PM
I 'm interested in attending if there's room. Otherwise I'll just have to go fishing somewhere else, darn... :hehe:

My wife is already asking what time?
Answer: Well the whole day of course Dear.

04-28-2002, 01:22 PM

I will bring the Yak and am available to paddle 5/12!

Looking forward to it!

05-01-2002, 08:53 AM
I can now make the 5/11 clinic if there's still room for one more. I have an oversand permit if anyone is interested in going down the beach before or after the clinic.

Can someone send me Capt Todd's email address?

05-01-2002, 09:04 AM
I'm in for 2 people, one a trouter I'm converting to the salt & no it's not a beautiful woman.

If we don't fit into the schematics, I'll find an alternative way to meet with you all.

05-03-2002, 06:03 AM
If you've got room Ian and I will be there. I don'k know how I missed this thread earlier but see if you can get us in.

What flies should I have?
Also, Where and what time is the rendevous for this affair?

05-06-2002, 10:02 AM
Todd and I have been playing phone tag. One of has been fishing, and it ain't me!

Well all that's about to change with this outing. I will hook up with him today and get the details up on the board ASAP.

More to come...

05-06-2002, 10:32 AM
Just talked to Capt. Todd - WISH I DID NOT!

He's out on the southside hooking fish with good numbers over 30" showing up today. That short conversation shoots my productivity down the tubes for a couple hours anyway.

Time to get the season in high gear!

He will post later today with all the details.

At this point we might be at full capacity - 22 riders with three or four drivers. I can take six in my truck.

Will have more details soon...

I can free up a seat for someone... Unfortunately, I've got to back out as my son has a t-ball game at 10 a.m. Afraid I'll be missing some prime striper hunting. Best of luck to all.
