My 7 year old has been askin to tie a fly. So we sat down and I guided him through his 1st one. Takes me about a half dozen to get smooth, so his is about as good/bad as mine. But he did most of it himself. Here they are. We used that nice griz hackle I got at Cabelas.

Awesome job! Bet he can't wait until he gets a fish on that fly (dad either!).

Great stuff there from the Lefty & son labs! Pretty soon we'll be able to just 'rock' back and say "Hey Kids, Want to fish tomorrow? You'd better crank out a couple of those ( fill in the blank! ) and I'll go make the sandwiches!"

Beauty's...
Particularily the pinched barb..

Another generation is well on the way, with your son's work.

One question. Why isn't he in the swap? Good stuff! Congrats to the father/son team!

Well done! I always like to see kids get their creative juices going at the vise. Looks like you have another source for flies. :D

Was thinking the same thought you posted. Scarry huh! when we think alike?

Lefty - great stuff! Now if you could only teach 'em to fiddle?

The apple does not fall far from the tree... great job... I think those would work well in Chatham.

Who says I'm not? He's coming along on that too.
One thing I did that was cool was I placed a small rubber cap over the tip of the hook to keep him from stabbing himself. I only had one, so I just suffered the usual stabbings, ouch.

Nice job! I wish my kids would show more interest. I think I scared them off though. They think I'm obsessed or posessed.

If you need another hook cover cut the eraser off a #2 pencil.
