I'm off to St. Pete's Beach FL for a week in mid April. Any suggestions would be welcome for locations, prey and flies that might be good at that time in that area for my introduction to southern flats fishing. I am also considering a guide/boat if anyone has a recommendation. Thanks.

Look for Fort Desoto State Park. Nice flats for wading. Lots of trout, reds, etc. You can park and walk right out. I don't remember the name sof the streets and such like that but it's a state park right!!! It's in all the papers!! Good fishin hole.
