: Saltwater fly swap

I noticed quite a few kids tying at the Marlboro show. How about adding the kids to the current fly swap. They could have their own category or just join in with the rest.

I like that idea.

When anyone catches a fish on one of the kids' flies, we should make an effort to get a picture of the catch posted here so that they can see the fruits of their labor. :)

That's a great idea.. let's do it... my oldest boy will also participate.

Awesome idea! Consider it done. I especially like the picture idea. If I get a kids fly one of my goals for the year will be to not only get a fish on the fly but to get a keeper. Now all we need are some kids to sign up.

Ok kids - to sign up just post your name with something like "I'm in". You can tie up to six flies and you will get the same number back from the other people in the swap.

I will e-mail my snail mail address out to the participants in the next week or so for all the participants. Anyone can join in and the deadline for getting the flies to me is March 1st. I will get pictures of all the flies with Juro's generous help and then mail your return set of flies within a couple of weeks.

I got a couple of emails from people wondering if the kids fly swap was on. Looks like we're including them in the general fly swap, which should work out nicely.

I see no compelling reason to make a different category. Heck, I have no doubt whatsoever that some of them are tying much better flies than the ones that come off my vise.

Please forward my mailing info to them or send me their e-mail address and I'll drop them a note.

I just recieved the first installment from Pete Laviolette. Great looking flies! This is going to be a blast and also rather humbling.:)

Greg, how many should I tie up? Tom D

The original plan was for up to 6 from each participant however some people are doing more. Pete sent in 18.

If you want to do more than 6 just know that if the numbers don't work out for some reason you might recieve some of your own flies back.

I'll be tying my SEVEN (hint hint to all) this weekend at Stony Brook.

Are you going? If so I will bring the big chief smoker.

Mike and I will be there. I was afraid I would have to work but I dodged that bullet.:D The smoker would be great but please don't go to any trouble.

Tom -

Hope you're feeling better, having raised three myself I can relate to that whole ordeal - except for the pretty girl part. I always got the nurse lady from Young Frankenschteen.

The way you win raffles all the time you ought to play the state lotteries more often. Just remember if you win who your favorite website is :D
