Has anyone paddeled one of the new self-bailing inflatable kayaks ? I see them for around 350 to 400 US. Stearns has one that looks alright, curious if anyone has given one a test spin in a good rapid or two?

My friend has the Sterns which he uses in saltwater. Not as fast as a hardbody yak. He says because you sit lower in
there is a tendency to get wet . I have seen their ad and it shows some running a rapid. Best to check with a good dealer to get info on this product.:smokin: FishHawk

Last summer I met some guys who looked like they drove all night, got some ZZZ's in the car, and were about to head out at 0800...I had been out since 0400, danced with some fish and caught the end of the incoming to call it a morning and ride back up the channel where it all began. They had their hands full bucking the current...their determination, while a bit wet, was inspiring...
They were using the typically low riding Sterns inflatables and admitted that what they lacked in speed, they made up for in convenience and stealth, and that the design was not well suited for long paddling but for access to estuaries, channels, and the like.
Throw it in the trunk and it's there waiting for when opportunity knocks!
