Yep saw these, do look interesting, but do not know if the metal tubes are legal in many US fly fishing only waters. Those which donot allow weighted flies, would think the metal tubes would be illegal.

These look like they are big in Europe though, and it appears Canadian waters.

You can (and I do) tie tube flies on plastic tubes, too. You can fish these in waters where metal tubes whould not be permitted. Also, you can choose the sink rate of your fly based on the amterial you use: plastice, aluminum, copper, brass.

Here's a popsicle tied as a tube fly.
