Roop and I bumped into this on the flats of Brewster, first imressions made me jump a little. Especially since we were in the water not the yak. Then the fin flopped side to side and I breathed a sigh of relief.

What a great day!

Now that I've read up on the Mola's I would definitly try to get a lot closer!!

Seems odd to hear of Mola in the flats - I've never seen them anywhere closer than the warmer eddies and shipping lanes. Guess that warm eddy pushing NW might have had something to do with this sighting?

Ocean sunfish are common on the bayside, we see them every year - but on the flats??

Thats why it startled me so much at first. I have never seen them in such shallow water. He didn't look happy, and seemed to be circling in the bowl at Brewster looking for a way out. During the circles he would get within 15 ft of Roop and I. The first picture shows the fish's outline, it looks alot better in the real print. This is how the day ended.

Nick... Your an honest man... If I had pictures like that I would have said it was a Great White.. It came after me ... I droped the camara and couldn't take any pictures... I fought it off ... and it took off... you know.. just a uaual day for me... By the way, It chopped my T & T horizon in half... I glued it together with super glue and gave it away... to... to.. I forgot... I hope it holds.

Man you guy's crack me up sometimes. Does look alot like a shark in the picture, Nick you easily could have pulled off a dupe and knowbody would have known the difference. I have seen Molas off of Watch Hill and Plum Island(CT) and my wife saw one up inside Quonnie Pond, you think one on the flats is weird try one up inside a saltpond .
