Started out on my daily hike at the Sugarbowl, Castle Island and noticed a group casting to breaking fish. Noon-time, birds everywhere, rain, wind, and fish busting bait within 20' of the shore. It only lasted 30 minutes and the stripers caught ranged 26-32". About 6 fishermen all tossing either large Kastmasters or surface plugs. The Km's with a white bucktail took the larger fish while the all white poppers took the most.
Noticed large schools of very small bait the last few days and I would guess this is what they were feeding on. Didn't have my gear with me and not another F.F. to be seen. It would have been interesting to see what could have been accomplished with a fly.

Jim...You're going to have to break down and get one of those Swiss Army Knife Ronco Fly Cast-O-Matics...a pocket size 9 wt with a secret compartment for flys, leaders, etc.
