Just thought you'd like a recent report for the area most people will be fishing this coming weekend. This is from a club member (CT/RI Saltwater Flyfishers)dated 9/29:

"Hi All,

(Disclaimer: Due to the winds all fish mentioned were caught on spinning gear)

Left Noank Shipyard on a friends boat at 6:30 AM wind was only blowing 10-15. We headed to Napatree and Watch Hill to tuck inside. We hit Napatree Pt. and my friend hooked up with an albie on his first cast. For the next 3 hours we chased albies with everyone catching at least 3 each. As the tide started to go out we found stripers, blues and albies back at Napatree Pt. By 11:00 the three of us had a slam.

We decided to turn the corner to Watch Hill and we saw hundreds of birds and tailing stripers with blues and albies mixed in
pushing the bait up to the rocks. It was an absolutely amazing site seeing some big stripers tailing and just killing the bait. We caught about 20 stripers each with a mix of blues and an occasional albie.

On the way home we realized how bad the weather was and to top it off we lost our starboard engine. Limped home getting
soaked with three smiles that will not be wiped off our faces for a few days."

Let's hope its not too snotty for Rhodyfest! And and tight lines everyone...

Hello, all. I plan on being at Weekapaug and the West Wall area this coming weekend for a bit, so if I get some fishing in I'll let you all know how it goes. Since I won't be going to the clave, I want to do my part to give you all a heads up on the action. I wish the best for all that are going later in the month.

Best fishes,

Mark

Thanks Mark, we appreciate it. I am not adverse to scouting the area myself this weekend... if I can pull it off despite mounting obligations.

Hey nice report Carmelo,

Sure wish I could have been there, sounds like it was quite a sight. I certainly would like to go on a scouting trip out there. What's the best boat ramps for Napatree/Watchill?

Thursday looks good for me Juro, can you get away?

Greg.

No weekdays for me Greg - burned all my freebies on coho salmon and steelhead out west.

Good luck, are you going to make Rhodyfest?

Right now looking like a day tripper, although I might have to do camping sunday night solo as Brandon has school. Really hate to miss it, learn alot at the get togethers and get to go to great spots. This Sunday I'm hopeing to get out as well.
The mention of the full moon has me itchin to jump in the truck drive over for some moonlight wading, P/I? Horseneck? meet you there?

Greg.
