Joe- Welcome from a fellow CT resident. I live in Middletown and am in the process of getting a house over in Portland, just three blocks from the Connecticut River. :-) While I don't own a kayak, I have learned some great saltwater spots in the state and over in Rhode Island. Don't hesitate to ask for info, either here on the board or by e-mail. Believe me, once you feel the power of an ocean fish on a flyrod, there's no going back. }>

Welcome! I worked on Sea Wolf in Groton, nice area. Say do the fish that move to Rhody from Mass stop in on the CT coast on the way south? I hear good things about Niantic in the fall...

I've been fly fishing from the Yak for just a year and a half. I suggest you do some casting from shore before casting from the yak too much. Your gonna love it. Let us know when you get your first Nantucket sleigh ride.

Well Jeff, that's better than being introduced to S&M by the guys at FF }>

BTW - when are you going to fish again? I miss watching you catch keepers as if it wasn't difficult or something like you did this spring!

Hey Joe,

You have done yourself a service by visiting, and, contributing to this site. As a newbie myself I can speak to the exceptional group of members this forum brings to the table.

I never seem to be able to get away and fish with everyone when they congregate. I have had the pleasure of fishing with perhaps 10-15 of the people you'll come across in these posts, though, and I can tell you, to a man, they will make you a better fisherman. They never hesitate to offer constructive criticism and they do their best to help you overcome your shortcomings and get into fish.

Stick with them over the off season and they'll have you hopelessly hooked by next summer.

My New Years resolution is already set in stone....FISH MORE!

Again, welcome Joe.

I knew that was coming.

Juro, work quick and took over my life after a great beginning to the season. For this I am :( . Very :( .

A counterassault is underway already for next season, however, and I've just about closed the deal on a new oversand worthy machine!!! Honey-hole here I come. 8)

good choice on the Pungo! a great flyfishing yak. handles the surf pretty well. Joe just go out in it with your 6 wt and practice a bit, you don't need huge casts because you can get very close in the yak. if I can break free during the next few weekends, would you be interested in hooking up while the fish are still around? if they are... no guarentees, but I may be able to break free one day. but i doubt this weekend. Tom d oh yeah,I'll bring an extra salt water flyfishing setup if we go

Welcome. I fish Conn a lot and would like to hook up with you sometime for yak fishing. I have a Necky Santa Cruz and I am a newbie with the yak. Hope to see you on the Cape sometime. Looks like a yak clave is in order next season*. FishHawk
