For those from other locales who may be unfamiliar to the Boston accent, watch an episode of Cheers and remember the following rules:

If it ends in "er" it's pronounced "ah". Slammer blue, slammah blue.

Sometimes syllables are dropped or added. Straw-ber-ry becomes straw-bry. Door becomes Do-wah. Cheers becomes Chee-yahz.

Like every region, city names aren't pronounced like they are spelled... Worcester, Gloucester, Medford, etc.

"Used to" becomes usetah and "part of" becomes "partah". I usetah live in the north partah Wooster. Now I live in Meffah.

It's all part of a JFK-esque charm in a great city at the roots of our great country, Boston. As good as the fishing gets in these parts (pahts) from May thru October, there's lots of "shtripahz" and "slamma blue" talk on the water. I miss it already!

My favorite is when we add the letter "R" to words. We leave them out of words, save them, then throw them on where they don't belong.
Classic example: the word idea becomes idear or pizza becomes pizzer. IT supposedly goes back to the Boston area being settled by mostly folks from East Anglia section of England. Party on.

Nice fish John.

I would have called it a "choppa" blue though with my south shoa accent.

Still a few of those guys haging around Chatham as of this past weekend by the way. my buddy hooked a 15 lber jigging for cod...

Juro, thanks for scanning it and posting it for me... It was my largest Blue on the fly and I was out with Todd Murphy one morning. The fish measured 38 inches and wt. was 15.5 pounds. Kept it and ate it.

Striblue -

That's really a brute John. Quite the feat on the 9wt.

Jeff -

I heard from Capt. Tod Murphy that the big cod are in ~60ft of water right off the beach and that both big bass and blues are hanging above them, taking the swedish jigs on the way up!

Boy, I do LOVE fresh cod - makes the store bought version taste terrible in comparison. Anyone want to sponsor me on an LC-13 cod on a fly excursion this weekend? ;-)

Nice going,John
Man there were some big blues around this year, in my short tenure as a fisherman, I've never seen this many big ones. I caught a couple myself, not quite this big though! John, did you really save the jaw of that thing? I gotta get to the CAC!
