Ok, I'll start...

Grew up bait and lure fishing (was "fill-in" first mate on family's charter boat out of Jones Inlet, Long Island) for mako, tuna, bonito, mahi-mahi, blues and of course, stripers.
Back then (does that make me sound like an old timer or what)bunker were foot long and the bass were monsters. Hope those times are coming back. Lived through the days of "poisoned Stripers" (PCB contamination in the Hudson) and then declining stock.

After going to college more inland, fishing became a thing of the past for me - actually didn't fish for about 10 years and can't for the life of me know how that would affect me now!

Have been throwing flies for the past couple of seasons, first fresh water and now both.

Caught my first trout (about 16") with a guide (Bob D.) at the Swift, using a dry fly in November. Actually watched the fish come up from the bottom to take it every so slowly. "Bob, what do I do now?" - "DON'T SET THE HOOK!" (I had been whipping tiny brook trout into the air prior to this not knowing I had one on).

My first striper on the fly was also the courtesy of a guide trip with Bob on the Merrimack, which you can read a report of here: (see May 28th, 2000 report)

Hope to learn alot more this year and add fly tying to my skill set.

I'm a prin. software engineer at an optical switch startup and have 2 kids and a very understanding wife.
