Is anyone planning on heading down to the Chatham area this coming weekend? I will be going down again Friday evening and will have to work around my place on Saturday, but planning to fish in the morning and eve as well as Sunday morning. If anyone wants to hook up, let me know. Will do the Bath Tub and Bridge Street.

I will definitely be fishing the Cape this weekend. I'm not sure about when or where yet but I'd love to hook up (so to speak) and see the famous CAC for the first time.
Well, I need to line-up the brunch for the family where we can tell mom just how great she really is, and help the kids get some nice gifts for her - but that doesn't mean I can't fly down to get my first punch on the Rip Ryder frequent flyer card!
On the other hand, I need to think about the clave. This is the scout weekend.
We are talking about several spots that should be hot:
Bathtub (Monomoy and South Beach)
Brewster Flats (bayside)
Southside river mouths (Vineyard and Nantucket Sound)
Sunken Meadows (bayside)
Chatham Inlet, lighthouse
Chatham Inlet, from Nauset
Nauset Inlet (private side)
Back beaches (Nauset on up)
Roop and I have been thinking that those with access experience would volunteer to host those who have not fished an area and are interested.
If you have interest and/or experience in these areas, please speak up - we need you to chaperone those who are new to them and want to try them.

I would love to hook up Saturday. I'm not particularly familiar with the area, but when/where were you thinking of meeting up?

Lets finalize by the end of the week. I want to make some calls to a couple of the local guys down there to see if the week has changed anything from last weekend. If things improve I will fish at Bridge Street and the Bath Tub... my usual productive areas year after year at this time. Also the mouth of Stage harbor at the end of Hardings Beach.. If necessary Red River Beach in Harwich.. Maybe Morris Island.. Anything on the south side. These areas are not far apart from each other.

I was down in Onset last weekend getting a friend's boat launched for the year and the water was up to 53 F already.
Any idea of the temps down down around CAC? Too windy
last Sunday to fly fish were I was....Tom's spinning gear
got one to hook up though.

I measured 60 degree water in Cotuit last Saturday.
54 degrees in Stage Harbor on Sunday (incoming tide).
55 degrees in the Bass River (incoming tide) on Sunday.
Just a reference...
By the way, Borkowski, I have your thermometer. I will get it back to you at the Spring Clave.
Jealousy is the word of the day this Saturday. My jealousy towards all that are fishing the Cape.

How do I check private messages?
Once you are logged in, go to Index/ by clicking on it above the messages on the upper left. You will see Private Messages when you scroll to the bottom of the Index page.
Hope that helps,

My girlfriend called me from Germany tonight and said that the boss might ask her to stay overseas until Saturday afternoon. If that happens, and I will know by Thursday, then I will be on the Cape this weekend.
Borkowski, I will e-mail you if I am headed to the Cape this weekend. Then we can make plans to hook up and hopefully concurrent plans to meet up with others from this forum. We should think about bringing my kayaks this weekend. We could use them to get to optimum places to fish (i.e. the opposite side of the Herring River, the Bathtub and the sandbars off of Hardings Beach). If we can use the yaks to find some blitzing action then we will be more than happy that we brought them.
Ahh, now I am getting ahead of myself. I will find out if I will be able to make it before I start to dream about a blitz.

You can rent my kayak for a bottle of Blanton's single barrel bourbon.........
......kidding, of course!
What's mine is yours, or, Jeff's in this case. My yak is collecting dust with yours in my garage right now. I'll see if I can't wash the spider webs and nasty critters out of them this week so you can slide into them with minimal trepidation. I'll get my anchor out, and my poly-p rope with the carabiners so you can lash the boats together while you wade the bars.
Do you want mine outfitted with or without tackle boxes? Jeff is welcome to my vest as well, obviously.
Oh, and for the record, yard work sucks in case anyone was unclear on that issue. How early would you be wetting a line? I certainly can't mow at 5AM, my neighbors would stone me to death
