Well I hate to jump on the boat late, but have been bussy guiding fishing and hunting.... (btw big cow stripers still here :) )

I work with Tom M. at the ProJo. Have know the man for several years, heck he read at my wedding.

I can tell you all that he is a flyfisherman (used to edit at FF magazine), hunter , and all that. He is also a class act. Now this does not mean that he does not do things I don't agree with.

Now I don't want to speculate what the motivation of the article was-- tight deadline, lazziness, wanting to bring up discussion???

But I will say this, if any of you agree or dissagree-- WRITE A LETTER TO THE EDITOR (art martone in sports and joel rawson), and Tom. It's the only way another point of view is ever seen.

Several post were outstanding and on the money. Pass them along. If not... life goes on at the PJB.

best,

Ruben, I did email him. he said he will be publishing emails in response(but not all), he was swamped with replies, I would guess. then thanked me for writing... maybe he's just stirring up interest after all! Tom D

Perhaps I can't see something about Mr Meade. All I know is I took him Trout fishing once, when he first moved to RI. One time I was telling him about a new fly pattern I came up with. It was called "Trouteater". He told me that I could not come up with a fly that had not been tied before. I am sure that a majority would dispute that. Everything I say I standby. He wrote a book on flyfishing. I told him "One does not need to be an expert to write a book" If he is looking for controversy he sure has one.

Touche' ArtB,

I didn't post as a defense of Tom, my point is that grousing on this forum will just get your pressure up.

Write the paper, its the only way they listen, beleive me.

BTW. love what you told him about writing a book. http://216.71.206.188/images/flytalk/Wilk.gif
