I hope to fish Chatham to the outer beaches Sat begining at 6:00 AM. Need to be home by noon - i.e. leave by 10:30

The way I read the tides, you'll never make it to the outer beaches!

Count me in... unless the Rip trip can happen this weekend... hmmm....

Al_D: I will meet you there if you want. Infront of the Light? I will be there around 5:45.

I was also going to fish the Canal Friday night for a few hours

I have been kicking around heading down to Chatham on Saturday, although I am torn because the harbor has been so hot lately and I didn't get out on my boat this past weekend.

Juro, as I have not made a rip trip yet this year, i would definitely be in...

PS: Anyone interested in hooking up for the drive from the Route 290 area let me know!

Just received an email from the National Seashore Preservation Society... " All beaches in Chatham will be closed to any type of access this weekend due to renovations..." (wink)

Regarding night fishing Friday evening. Tide is less than optimal for surrounding areas, but the canal might turn on in close at high tide. Much of the reports of decent fish in there are coming from guys fishing the bottom with conventuional gear. There are some decent spots that are fly rodder friendly in the immediate area that I'd be happy to show you. Would be nice to get a few hours sleep before Chatham, but I guess we have all winter to sleep. Count me in.

Wish I could do the rip trip....

Al_D I thought we could fish the last two hours of the rising tide. There are some nice rips on the North side that fish well, but you know better then I. the High on the north end is 12:56. If we meet at say 10:30 that would give us the last two hours of low, andget a nap in before we go. Then we could crash for a few hours and be at Chatham 5:45-6:00, or we could go nuts and fish down the canal to the West end and fish until about 4:30-5:30.

Others in the crew:
1. Roop? (Where you saying you where going?)
2. Iron_Mike
3&4. BrianZ and Friend
5. Al_D
6. Jeff_G (Maybe, Please let me know)
7. Juro (Said he may or may not be there

Fri 10:30pm Canal (Let me know what you want to do Al)
Sat 5:45am Chatham Light
Sat PM TBD A good dinner and some evening fishing sounds sweet.
Sun AM TBD Chatham again if it's good
Sun PM TBD Maybe the North Side The fish may move in over this week and with
a 9:00pm Low and a pretty big tide change this could be the place

I know most cannot make it all these times. I want to set times and places for people to know where to meet us, so they can come to any part they want. Let me know what you think and we will set the times and who ever shows will be welcome.

This is killing me again and I probably will not be down in Chatham this weekend... I know this is early, but let me know if anyone is planning for the weekend of October 7 & 8.

The way its shaking out I may make it to Chatham Saturday am, but the rest of the day will be with family. My wife and daughter said something about going to the fair out in Springfield Sunday but didn't say anything about me going - and I didn't ask. If they go without me I'll have to find something to do. Lets see. Could watch football or work around the yard. Right. I'd be up for anything. Chatham sure is seductive but getting to know some new bay side spots would be great too.

As an example of how important fishing is in my life ... it pushed an important day completely out of my mind.

I can not make Saturday - but will talk to the War Department about Sunday.

I have been looking to take part in a clave all summer and this weekend may mark my first clave if you are game for a stranger. I am taking a pal of mine flyfishing for stripers (he is a trout enthusiast and has never caught a striper) somewhere near Boston on Saturday morning. However, I would love to join you all on Saturday night and Sunday morning.

I hope it all works out.

Looks like I'm out Friday evening. My wife has a big project due, so I have my son. It's either no fishing Friday night or no fishing Saturday morning and if it's between Chatham and night fishing the ditch, it's a no brainer what I'm going to do

Nathan--Barring a catastophic incident at work (of which there have been many this season, but I feel the gods are with me), I will be at Chatham light at 5:45. Do you still have to move cars by 9:30 a.m.? What did you have in mind? We could fish South Beach for a while and then take a ferry south to the cut or Monomoy...or what ever, I'm easy. Let me know. I guess the rip trip is a no go--too bad, this was my first chance to make one.

Oops, i seem to have double posted and can't delete this one. Sorry. Dare I say, it reminds me of the old BBS5/R-T! Terry I now know what you meant about the server speed thing....

Only kidding, Jeff. Hope to hook up this weekend with you.

Looking good for the weekend for me, will confirm after a couple more roadblocks.

09-28-2000, 05:40 PM
Have just received my access pass from the National Seashore Preservation Society for access to all beaches this weekend during the scheduled maintenance/ construction. I plan on using mine Saturday AM.

I would strongly suggest those of you wishing to fish Chatham do the same.

RE: Last minute fly tying, the eels packed into my fishes belly last weekend were dark grey/ silver.

I am going to be at Chatham Light on Saturday morning. My buddy Jeff and I plan on showing up at 6 AM or so and we hope to meet up with some of the crew. I drive a maroon Subaru Outback with NH plates and I will be wearing a khaki Sage hat. If you see me down there then feel free to say hello. I will do the same.

Until then...
