Put me on the wait list... I'll show up and hit North if an opening doesn't occur. Tides should be right for another crack at the channel between North and South Monomoy.

Fred A.

OK, now that we are set I would like to make a suggestion. It seemed like this will be the hot time

Rip trip II....High 8:35am...Low 2:31pm....change 3.3ft...hot time 12:00-3:00pm
Rip Trip III...High 9:37am...Low 3:32pm....change 3.6ft...hot time 1:30-4:00pm
Rip Trip IV....High 5:01am...Low 10:56am...change 3.4ft...?? hot time 9:00am

So we have two option

1. If he would the rip rider could get us at 11:30 and drop us off at N. Monomoy
and we could catch the flood tide. I don't know if he wouldd do this. He will most
likely want to charge more which is OK with me if it isn't to much, but it would get pricey for some of you that are bringing family, and we might be completely beat.
that are bring family. So we could just get him to take us back and we could hit another spot.

2. Can we say Barbecue. We could bring a small grill, some meat and may be we will
supply ourselves with some stripers and blues.

A. Grill/coal
B. 2 Coolers with ice
C. Cutting board/fillet Knife
D. Fish Fixens
E. I say we go with burgers
1. Meat
2. Buns
3. Fixes

I suggest everyone bring your own drinks. After the fishing slows we can meal, and work the flooding tide for fish.

What does everyone think.

Well Nate beat me to the point but....

Based upon last Saturday's action the bass start getting hungry three to three and a half hours after high tide. For our RT IV that means 8 to 8:30am. Juro - awesome planning! Did you do that on purpose? Our arms will be all worn out and everyone will be ready for one of your superb gourmet shore lunches. Mike and I have a conveniently sized cooler we will bring. What other stuff should we round up from the gang?

Grey Poupon? But of course!

HOLD EVERYTHING

Just got email from Keith.

He wants to limit the passengers to 10 due to a bad experience with the return leg of the voyage on Sunday (Audubon). Therefore, the waiting list will grow.

Let's talk about an overflow trip...

Nate -

You're all wrong with the tides. The best time is slack high but we'll just have to live with the tides we get that day. I figure it's a good place for a picnic if nothing else. Given the choice, I'd rather be on South Beach near the lighthouse but the parking is such a bear.

The fishing's much better on lower South Beach where the Orvis guys gather up to do their school fishing. Heck it's only $10 and you just can't beat the success rates. Ten steps from the boat and bang! Outermost or Rip Ryder, take your pick. Other than Scorton Creek, South Beach is the surest thing in town.

It'll take several more trips before we really have any idea what the tides mean, afterall we've only made three trips and they weren't anything to write home about. I don't think the tide assumptions mean anything at this point.

I know it's a lot of money but if we think of it as a get together as opposed to a fishing trip it's easier to take the cost. If it turns out we don't need to waste the time and money, we'll go back to the sure thing in the bath tub on South Beach; and if we want a challenge fish the flats on Monomoy.

Sorry for instigating this whole thing, and I hope everyone doesn't get the false impression that this fishery is worth all the hassle. Maybe if we bring spinning rods our luck will be more consistent.

I'll bring whatever foods necessary. I also have the gas grill which I can bring if needed.

I know I can at least count on catching crabs (with the fly rod)for the pot.

Juro, by the way if a Sunday is the alternate date for example, I would check somethings out and may consider a switch with my son for that new date since Monday may be tough travel for the whole family to await a labor day return from S. Monomoy. But only if you are picking a extra date and if some peolpe can make the Monday instead of the Sunday....

John -

You raise a valid point. Returning on Labor Day is never pleasant. My hope is that most folks will be thinking about packing it up by noonish and the boat traffic will be low out there, and the tides >shiver<.

I have to attend a parents orientation on Sunday for my daughter before hitting Fenway for the Mariners game http://216.71.206.188/images/flytalk/Wilk.gif (Thanks Al!)

I'll contact Keith about a Sunday trip and post the new sign-up ASAP.

Juro - not to be a downer but don't count on it. People tend to stick around the full Monday if the weather is nice, making the traffic nasty starting from 4pm-ish. You guys may want to plan on coming back early or probably better, very late.

TinMan

Oh, with regards to suggestions for an alternate day, it will likely be a ghost town on Tuesday. I know I'LL be down there having my own little Clave http://216.71.206.188/images/flytalk/Wilk.gif.

Anyone want to join me on the 5th?

striblue
08-30-2000, 09:55 AM
Sorry about the confusion guys, what I was looking at is NOT an Alternate date... But a second Trip which would have to be scheduled Sat. or Sun. to take into account the waiting list and any potential switch overs (me for one).. So, I am planning on the Monday trip, but maybe Keith can pull off another one prior to Monday for the overflow.

Monday trip...
Juro: What do you mean I am all wrong about the tides. That is what I noticed Saturday and what everyone else noticed Friday.
Barbque: Who is going to bring what. List

1. Cooler with ICE
2. Cooler with ICE
3. Grill and Coal
5. Fixens

Mike and I will bring a cooler with plenty o' ice. We will also bring some fixins and some burger if burgers are still on the menu. For fixins we'll bring onion, tomato, and pickles.

juro
08-30-2000, 03:32 PM
Before all that, let's check with Keith for the rules on using stoves out there. We might be down to a cold cut buffet... salads, and maybe a slab of Scottish smoked salmon!

Nathan Smith

Good point about the grill. But if we can I will bring the grill and coal. Could someone else grab the buns, cheese, and whatever else belongs on a burger. I have a strange fear that it is going to be a no go on the grill on the island but we can hope.
