I've been hearing about bass still holding in deeper water off the new break as they were in the beginning of september, bass in the rips and bass along the south side as well as albies. I imagine the albies will clear out soon but I'm trying to decide which of these spots to hit for bass. Any ideas?
I've heard multiple reports in town from people still finding big fish off the break but it's fall and someone could hit the switch any minute.
I haven't explored the southside yet this month but it's in the plan for October as it is every year. Big (BIG) bunker are in the estuaries. I have had some of the biggest bass of my life on big 'chicken' flies fish on the swing at night on the dropping tide where estuaries drain. I am generally not a night fishing fan but these beasts are worth it.
The blue crab are still in the ponds and the first bay scallops are showing up. There are still anchovies, pea bunker, silversides, juvie herring around, I am hoping the albies come to the elbow and hang around for long enough for me to hit a couple rather than having to drive down to Vineyard Sound.
I have to admit since I got back from the pacific northwest I haven't been very aggressive in my pursuit but with the prospect of winter on the horizon I'd best get it going again!

Don't forget it's oyster season now too! Thanks Juro. I may make the run around and fish off of the break but it's tempting to head west and fish the outflows of the estuaries and hopefully run into albies. In my experience the rips are dead in October but that could just be me.
