well - i'm not sure what is worse. being close to Nirvana but not being able to get out or being far enough away that you can't get out. I guess either way all of hearts and thoughs have us wading the flats for big crusing fish...

CSJ60, my sons, Chris & Brad, had sunlight for a brief time this a.m. Slack low and beginning of incoming, loaded with keeper size bass and nice size sand eel pods. And they would eat! With stable SW winds, fishing should dramatically pickup.

Sounds like a stellar morning! I woke to pods of traffic, landing a keeper coffee :( I will be fishing father's day to make up for lost time!

Stop winding us Brits up Guys. Its hard enough as it is. I hope you manage to get a few Guys. Great way to fish. I saw so few fish on the flats in my two weeks. Maybe next year,

Mike

Hey Jim,

You left the Cape too early... what a day. Landed a hand full of small fish, then it happened. All nice fish from 34" to 38" pigs... just fat fish. I did keep a 36" fish for the grill just short of 20 lbs.

A change of locale did the trick.....................................

Craig, thanks for the info. I'll be back in two months and glad you got into big time action. For those wanting to know the locale, it is not a matter of specifics, but a methodology. Sightfishing is a big factor along with mobility.

P.S. Here in the Adriatic Sea, got some intel on bonita fishing. Suffice it to say, wasabe and soy sauce are on the grocery list. Will report later...

Congratulations on a fine accomplishment... an even greater milestone considering it's from shore I assume?

We've been fishing a lot of new spots for us anyway over the passed few years and it takes a little time to dial it in. Fishing bars that hold prey... structure without bait is fool’s gold. This fish was from shore and from what I would call a non-descript walk pass location until you stop…………… A nice long shore current that can and does hold big bait, and when it all happens you are into backing. I‘ve dropped a few nice fish at this spot but it happens. As I said big bait is sometimes present and when it all clicks if you are there at the right time you catch fish like FishHawk. Get out there and find these little honey holes that can and do hold some nice fly rod fish.

I would say this year has been more work trying to locate and stay with fish... skunked 4 or 5 time this June but when it happens it's nice fish for Jim and sons, Bill, and lucky me.

Fished a new spot last week, totally messed up but 5" fin bait and nice size sand eel's, a mixed bag of fish will bring us back to this spot. It's a looooooong walk but worth the time to get there. Sorry for not posting pic's but I've killed 3 camera's so I'm not investing in a new point and shoot. This spot is the bomb, we'll find out on the reverse tide.

We'll see how good the new honey hole is. You got to move around to find the fish. There in places where the boat traffic is light.
There should be a operators test for people who own boats. Lost of yahoos out there.
