I just booked a trip to Eleuthera, arriving 29th of april and leaving 6th of may.
Will be going there with the girlfriend and hopefully we both will manage to catch some bones on ourselves.
We will be staying in the Governors harbour area.
Never been to the Bahamas before, are there any specifics?
(of course I already ran a search on this site etc.) or anybody around there at the same time?
Go to Tippy's for dinner while you're there. That would be my best piece of advice for you!
As to the fishing, I've only been there once and some folks on the board have spent a lot of time there. I'd stick with their advice. Personally, I fished some of the flats north of town between gov.'s harbor and the airport. Spooky fish but they were there. Have fun. Where are you staying?

If Krabby Ken and Charlie still run the Rainbow Inn you will like it... good restaurant too!
Great hosts! I stayed there and one morning after breakfast went out to find two flat tires on my rental car! A normal hazard on Eleuthera. Bad roads and junk on the roads.
Those guys got a repair kit out and a compressor and fixed the flat tires for me so I wouldn't have to waste a fishing day waiting a repair truck.... No AAA on Eleuthera! How is that for hospitality!
They also have a few maps of DIY fishing spots on the island that are well worth the minor cost!
Good luck there

I second Tippys. If in Rock sound, go to Sammy Place. Very inexpensive and good food. Friday night fish fry in Governor's harbor is a blast. Great conch fritters!
Savannah sound, governor's harbor, Balara bay and point, deep creek flats--all good places for fish.
Lighthouse point has a gorgeous beach, but is a long drive. The last several miles get a little rough at the end. Usually some bones here too.
And don't forget the atlantic side beaches. Some nice bones cruise these mostly at higher tides, and are usually not very spooky.
have a great trip!!!

Tippys and the beach house for eats. There is a great deli on the same road for lunch stuff. Friday night fish fry and Ronnies afterwards for boozing.
There are bonefish right at the bottom of the street at the harbour. They are very spooky but a good place to get your eye in before hitting savannah sound.

Guernseybass has it right. Friday night Fish Fry is a must. Ronnies is a great bar and sells nice cigars. Take your girfriend to the Club Med beach. She love it. Very nice stretch of beach and you can bring your gear. Best of all the Beach House is right next door. Just don't order the Rum Punch. I ordered 2 right after a hot couple of hours walking the beach in February and got a bill for $24.00. At night they have a great menu including gourmet pizzas. They have a tapas style menu available.
Tippy's is the tops. I think I had a cajun grouper four nights there. Bartender name is Eliot and he plays live music on Saturday nights.
Savannah Sound is a nice place to wade and see tailers. Spooky World though. Check out my report from this past February and PM with any questions if you'd like.
Yesterday I booked two weeks there. Guess I like it.
