7 more days and I can kill some of the time I would have normally spent fishing watching baseball again.

Wonder if the Mariners will field a team capable of .500 ball this year?

I also look forward to seeing if Felix can repeat his Sy Young performance of last year.

I have a couple of friends who went down to Mariners spring training last month. Maybe they'll have some encouraging comments. I'll find out.

Watched Bedard pitch last night. He looked pretty darn good. If he gets back to where he was a couple of years ago and stays healthy the Ms will have a pretty decent right left combo with him and Felix.

I have not seen or heard a single spring game this year. Not sure why, just not listening in yet. odd for me.

But have been reading a lot of preview stuff.

I get the sense that we are sort of on track for a repeat of 2010. The major difference I see is that we aren't expecting magic like we were last year.

Pitching looks pretty darn good again this year. I'm not getting any sense that we have much better ability to score & our ability last year was reprehensible.

Even so, I hope the stats that earn Felix the Cy Young this year are about like last year just with a lot more W's and fewer L's.

Looks like they have the pitching for sure, and that hitting roster is pretty damn good but they need to fire on all those pistons and get it rolling. I hope they picked up a new hitting coach :)

Funny, and its only the home opener in April. I will still watch inspite of the dismal start.

Last night's game was a tough one. Nice way to honor Dave; a blow out loss. He seen to many while broadcasting the games.

Possible sweep of the Tigers. Lots of runs scored in the past two games and decent defense. Perhaps they are finding themselves. Even Bedard looked good.

Well I'll be darned did I actually call for .500 before the Yankees Mariner's matinee tomorrow? Yes I did and we are sitting in section 217 for the "Matinee" go Vargas!!! The rest of you can eat CAKE.:lildevl:

OC

Moonlight
Cake can be good, I like the ones you buy at Safeway with white cake inside and cheap white frosting that say happy Bday or happy anniversary or Mariners win division go on to sweep series with only 500 record. Have you ever had carrot cake? I used carrot cake for cat fish once and did good. But what do I know I'm just a cracker when it comes to baseball and other refined culture stuff. I used to have tickets to the symphony and the opera but then I found Oprah and then she retired. Thank god we still have the Mariners and the ever elusive season. I like that new kid, the pitcher, at 6 foot 7 and has a God like fast ball better than Jesus and the 98 MPH fast ball had at 23 years old. Your the man in predicting the 500 season could it be Red Sox and Mariners for the American league championship?
Hope fishing was good up your way, not so good this year down here.

Always fun to be at the Safe. But its painful as of late watching the Great Ichiro in his slump! That comebacker into a doubleplay with the bases loaded ,I hope, will be remembered as the low point in the slump. We bested the Bombers 2 da 3 good enough for me. Chone and Ichi will come around and we will soon start watching the Dam counts as Summer Steelheads start flying over Bonneville Dam which is my attempt at making this a fish post!!!
OC I watched Oprah a couple of times as it comes on just before the news should I watch the reruns am I missing some "life messages" ?:lildevl:

juro
05-30-2011, 01:04 PM
And I schedule my arrival to Seatac with a decisive home game schedule at Safeco AND when those summer runs reach a good saturation level. The two are definitely related :)

OC
05-30-2011, 02:36 PM
I don't know if there is a message, mostly babble, just babble. I'm trying to say I'm eating cake. Lots of fish now headed east on their journey to the Snake better to look at dam counts than Oprah I would think, I never have watched her I don't even have a TV that picks up TV stations. I hope the weather gets better so you can enjoy a ball game in the warm sun with a bad hot dog, a cold beer and no sushi.

KerryS
06-01-2011, 12:53 PM
Who is Oprah? A new utility playa? Believe it or not but I have never seen an Oprah show that I remember. If I actually did see one, I was in a drug induced coma and it doesn't count.

Smoak and a come from behind 3 run homer in the bottom of the eighth for the win. This is usually what the other team did.

juro
06-01-2011, 01:56 PM
All the one-run misery from last year seems to be turning into one-run win karma this year... :smokin: And the 2 of 3 series vs. the Yankees had my other team the Bosox in first place for a couple of days anyway. Long season ahead, keep the pace...

Headed to Safeco for the Braves game Tuesday night. M's just need a little more offense. The Yankees and Red Sox must be very envious of our Pitching Staff! Oh and by the way after the game the Mick and I are driving to Bella Colla for our week on the Dean River fishing Kings and Steelheads.

Tough to watch. They managed to score more runs tonight in a couple of innings then in the previous 7 or 8 games combined.

OC
07-24-2011, 03:30 PM
From the time Moonlight left for BC the M's have lost 14 in a row. Can we blame him or should we look elsewhere? :hihi:

Moonlight
07-24-2011, 05:06 PM
We had great seats to see Ichiro get a lead off homerun on the first pitch saw him throw a runner out at the plate climb the wall to steal a hitmaaybe homer, and saw the Mariners loose. The trip to the Dean was pretty good but not worth a 15 game loosing streak.
Noway!

Eric

So, are you going to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat and post your Dean experience this year. Inquiring minds want to know.

Mariners? Mariners who?

Too bad you couldn't see us get beaten perfectly on saturday! I only listen, I dislike the White Sox nearly as much as I do NYY & the other Sox - but I was glued to the radio from about inning 5 on. Unreal.

It also hurts less than back to back 7-run innings.

Mariners, how many years have they been the worst team in baseball? How many more will they still be the worst. Maybe they will move to Oklahoma. Maybe Japan would be better. I started this thread about 8 years ago as Jesus and the 98 mile fast ball. It was a little better time then than now my mariner fans. Does Jesus still play for the team or did he ascend upward and outward? Was he put upon the cross, poor Freddy so sad where are your disciples now. All star break same old same old.

Ichero gets a chance for a world series ring. Let's hope Freddy gets traded to a good team too, he deserves it.

I wonder if Ichero will go striper fishing now?

With all due empathy for you Seattle fans, given the salary dump by the Red Sux I think Felix would be a fine replacement for Becket.:lildevl:
