John- which FTC site is this going to at- the "old" site in E Harwich, or the "new" site down on Rt 28?

02-24-2011, 01:03 PM
The old place in Harwich. They are not moved yet.....I will get some photo's and Pete will want to clear them first seeing what they mean to him and what's in it for him, etc....which means nothing to me as I will submit the ones I want. Ha!

02-24-2011, 05:53 PM
John, be sure that you have your UV protection glasses with you and I am not too sure about a lens cover for your camera. Between the curing light and Penquin's treatments things should really be glowing there. Wish I could be there.

In lieu of resent rather harsh postings... :whoa:
Tuesday's schedule has been adjusted to better suit the caustic climate...
Proposed itnerary:
After a very brief "everything you never really wanted to know about acrylics" ,
there will be a "group hug and emotional intervention" with emphasis on "political correctness"
followed by "anger management" ,
"sensitivity training" for the sympathetically impaired and emotionally detached :frown: ,
"touchy feelings, yours and mine" :o ,
and [last but not least], "I'm OK... You, NOT SO MUCH!" :tsk_tsk:

Thanks Bob for all that stuff you do setting up and taking pictures. Those pictures WILL be put on this forum for sure. Good to see Flydoc ,who made me promise him that I would not get into anymore trouble on the forum....on the way home I thought about it.... and I think I lied.....Pete did a great job and was actually very serious for which I was not prepared....anyway...he tied some bueatiful stuff and really has the artists hand in the application of the tuffeye (spelling wrong I think).

03-01-2011, 08:47 PM
Pete's presentation was absolutely fascinating. He is one creative fly tier (or is it fly welder?).

Thanks Pete. Great job!!!!

Here are my three favorite pictures complements of Bob Mahoney....I will post others and the flies later....

" It rubs the lotion on it's body whenever it's told to do sooo...otherwise... it gets the blow torch again."

" I...I... can't seem to focus after all that glue I snift today."

OH God... when will this end....why? why"

03-03-2011, 08:04 AM
Here are others of some flies.

I spent time and effort to gather resources and to prepare for the occasion... :p
and I still got off track and diverted from my phlight plan...
but, overall, I touched on some key points and even cranked out some phlyz...
go phigure...?!
the exercise taught ME a lot and I look forward to the next "opportunity" to share the process...
Perhaps I even opened some eyez and inspired some creativity... timewilltell...
This ACRYLIC stuff is the BOMB and if you are tactically avoiding it, you may be missing wonderful opportunity... :tsk_tsk:
and besides all that...
Fishing The Cape seems to be agreeable to on going "work-shops"...
I'm available to help out and/or answer questions and solves problems...
'standing by to stand by...

Way cool stuff Pete. I like it

Do you usually use a Norlander vise Pete?

I do & will never use another style again. at least for salt water flies

03-04-2011, 07:40 PM
I bought that Nor-Vise from Norm way back in the 1900's [late 80's] at the Marlboro Show...
'spoke with him just the other day... he and Ruthie [his better half & significant other] had just returned from the Pleasanton CA FF Show...
The Norlanders are GOOD PEOPLE!!! and his vise is a formidable magic kinetic sculpture that I could NEVER part with...
and we're friends to this day [Norm, Ruthie, and das Nor-Vise]... GO PHIGURE!?
I use it often and that says a lot... it runs with some really FAST company [LAW, J-VISE, etc]...
It gets better and better just like a fine wine! The more I use it the better we get!
'Combined with the Automatic Bobbin, it's nothing short of BRILLIANT!
GOOD tools make a BIG difference!
