That's a great deal! Let's get a group together for the February time frame.

09-09-2010, 09:41 PM
I could be up for that ....Pete?

09-10-2010, 04:30 AM
I'm interested. Febuary or March.

09-10-2010, 09:57 AM
Would love to, but some hand surgery is scheduled. My bonefishing will be in April.

09-10-2010, 10:40 AM
Sounds interesting:smokin:

09-10-2010, 09:58 PM
Damn! this is tempting.

Late spring would work much better for me. I will be making my third trip, this year, to the Bahamas in November and can't fit in another that soon. Great deal though and I want to visit Felton's Taj Mahal again.

Bahamasair is showing a fare of $129 r/t on travel to Spring Point- Between September 15 & November 15, 2010.

Felton, Does Bahamasair still fly to Acklins on Mondays? I know they used to but when I check their site it says no flights on Monday?

09-17-2010, 03:17 PM
Sorry, Wednesdays & Saturdays for Bahamasair. Try Pineapple Air for Mondays & Fridays flight.

Home away from home for a week!

09-30-2010, 11:37 AM
I'd totally be up for that. Great price! But not February, definitely March. This year I went in February and the weather was terrible for the first 5 days and nobody was catching fish. Too risky for that to happen again with February weather, March is much better!

09-30-2010, 01:15 PM
I've gone in February several times and it was very hot and the fishing hotter - last year was an anomaly just as some might run into a hurricane etc.

One thing I've learn as an angler is that one sample means nothing - trends are measured across a lifetime of samplings. My experience has been that escaping in February is the best medicine for the New England deep freeze.

So, can we get a qurom to take advantage of Feltons offer?
I'm open on dates. I would think a minimum group of 4 would work.

09-30-2010, 02:18 PM
The Taj Mahal can take 10 comfortably... it would be a blast too!

10-07-2010, 08:10 AM
A pleasant good morning!

Time is winding down for those who will take advantage of this deal. Move quickly and have no regrets!!

10-08-2010, 09:59 AM
What say guys... who is interested?

I know one thing this time I will NOT ignore the 5 foot long cuda's on a flyrod until the last day as I did last winter! That was an amazing thrill.

10-08-2010, 10:12 AM
Depending on dates etc

Would be great to go back and see Feltons
New place.

Keep me in the loop.

I am definitely and most enthusiastically in.

I can now afford this trip as GMAC Mortgage is giving me a nice legal fees sanctions check as a result of my efforts to bring their foreclosure machine to a full stop.

10-08-2010, 06:14 PM
I'm in. Dates? Seems this needs to be resolved quickly.

I'm flexible.

10-09-2010, 06:21 AM
I'm a possibility as well.

I would be very interested in visiting Felton again. In part, depending on dates. The mid March time we had last spring seemed just a bit early. Easter Sunday is late in 2011, the 24th of April. Probably best to avoid the week before and after that.
I recall a couple shots at large barracuda, but no takes.

10-11-2010, 02:35 PM
For what it's worth, the biggest tidal ranges for Feb and march are the weeks:

Something else to keep in mind regarding dates. I presume Bahamas Air is still flying from Nassau to Acklins on Wednesday and Saturday only. I'd suggest that the Wednesday flights are preferable, just to minimize possible congestion in Nassau on a Saturday. Also, staying at Orange Hill Inn the prior evening might be better on a Tuesday than a Friday night.

10-13-2010, 06:45 AM
As stated, I'm flexible. But I prefer Saturday to Saturday, it conserves a vacation day. Of course, if I figure out a way to retire it won't matter but right now I think I'm looking at another year.

I like March, still feels like your getting away from the NE winter and doesn't conflict with the spring yard chores in April.

Clocks ticking down on the deal.

10-13-2010, 07:31 AM
Sat-sat best for me (work impact like Fred)

Do we have quorum?

10-13-2010, 07:50 AM
I can't commit right now but maybe. Depends on a wedding date. If you got a group together and I was able to jump in at a later date would the price being offered now still apply?

10-13-2010, 08:47 AM
My answer will depend on the date chosen.

10-13-2010, 06:56 PM
Wish I could go with you guys!

I am on the island March 19-26 with a group of 6 anglers. We'll be fishing mostly up north and middle area. Staying at Ivels just north of Airport.

Stop by for some free beers!

10-13-2010, 09:20 PM
I'm happy to be one of those guys going with Vince.

Any suggestions on a backpack - chest pack combo? I have a Patagoina hip pack and was wondering due to the amount of hiking and wading, is a chest pack and backpack combo worth it?

I would be interested to hear from other DIY guys who have treked around Acklins. I am stoked to get back there. Five years is a long wait. My profile pic is from my 06 trip to Greys Point.

10-13-2010, 09:23 PM
It looks like we have three definites:

We have a maybe in Bonefishmon, depending on dates----so I wonder what dates would make that maybe into a definite ? ? ?

And we have only two days to make it happen.

10-13-2010, 09:54 PM
At present I am pretty flexible on dates, and would like to go to Acklins again and revisit Felton.
I sympathize with you gainfully employed guys wanting to save vacation days. One other factor in favor of the Tuesday and Wednesday travel days is likelyhood of less expensive air fares to/from Nassau compared to Friday/Saturday flights.
Wonder if Bahamas Air will have a March sale again this year; I think it was $99 RT anywhere they go. Unfortunately I missed getting that by making reservations one day too soon.
Thanks. GMflyfish

10-15-2010, 10:34 AM
If Felton's offer expires at the end of today, I guess we are going to miss it.
I did a little checking on air fares for the end of March; from Rochester, on Delta, there was a large increase in the fare to/from Nassau on Fri/Sat versus Tues/Wed. USAir was also more on the weekend, but not nearly as much.

Hi Guys-
Sorry for the late response. I would love to join you again this year
but I'm already booked for TdF in early March and forcasting some
cashflow issues next Spring.
Please say hello to Felton for me and I hope to join you again next time around.

Spirit is offering flights as low as $134 r/t Boston-Nassau thru the winter.
