: Cape report

Headed south from Maine for a couple of days and staying on Nauset Heights. Any reports from the beach or bay side. I'm bringing my kayak with me this year in hopes of embarking on a DIY BF sight fishing excursion. Any suggestions on tides and must know knowledge? I was planning on fishing Monday and Tuesday afternoon 8/30 & 8/31.
Any help or information would be much appreciated.

Aaron, I must not be up on the latest abreviations..but what does DIY BF mean?...the BF does not mean Blue fin does it? Does it mean Bay Flats?

Tides are favorable for a first light launch. Lows at 9:30/10ish mon and tues. Later the low the better to avoid long drags over sand.

Edit: I had mistakenly posted the lows for saturday and sunday.

When do the parking restrictions around Chatham / stickers stop for the season - or is it after the Stripers have left the beaches??

After Labor Day, but it's a good idea to contact the Chatham Police for clarification. You can park at the refuge if you're fishing anytime without concern.

Bayside beaches in Brewster, Dennis, etc. are free after labor day.

I have picked up tickets the day before Memorial day and the week after labor day at the light  I figure it was the CT plates. The big blue kayak on the roof probably wasn't the stealthiest of "presentations" either

You can park on Bridge St. which now also requires a sticker during the "high season" - but that may be done by now.

I suspect Hardings Beach parking lot is also fair game after Labor Day, but checking the Chatham Town website for confirmation wouldn't hurt.

Parked at Bridge Street yesterday - sign clearly said no permits required after Labor Day .....

No fish, but got to watch the Harbor Master pull in a dead whale!

Many thanks, looks like it should be no problem in a week's time.
