I cropped off the first inch or so of my trusty RPLXi with my power window saying hello alongside another vehicle. I found out that the repair bill (before shipping) would be $50.00 up front!.
So now I am thinking an 8' 11" 9wt isn't that bad of a configuration afterall! Hope the tip fits on the cut edge!
Part of me is glad to see this, I know all about unconditional warranty woes from my own venture into flyrod industry.

when did you buy the rod? I have had discussions with Sage concerning warranty.
My old sage has been fixed about 5 times. It was under the old no fault warranty. They have fixed it for me no cost with only shipping by me to them. They fixed and shipped back No Cost.
Try to be see when you bought your rod and the warranty offered at the time you bought it.....they should honor the warranty you bought.
It was definitely before the $50 policy was in place. I will talk to them thanks Jim.
Whatever, it makes sense to fix the rod if it's one that you really like, especially in light of replacement cost for a top line rod, there is also a real possibility that your tip is cracked below the break and will not be able to be repaired with a new top guide.
They responded that the $50 is shipping, handling and insurance. I think I could ship, handle and insure it for a lot less but if it means more years of bliss with this rod, which it certainly has delivered, then $50 is nothing.
Off to Northeast Day Road it goes!
